Network

A Network Server is a router on steroids. Senitrus’s network server will have 4 LAN?, and 2 WAN? ports. One of these LAN ports can have no firewall for accessing other servers in the premise. This will likely just be LAMP servers, unless you want to make another server internet connected such as a telephony or storage server. However, they should be done carefully. A telephony server in a DMZ will only make it accessible to the internet when not home. If not DMZ, then the server will still receive calls, it is just that the SIP? clients can’t connect to it over the internet. If you want a “Home” Phone, then this is ideal. If you are a small business, and employees need to connect to the telephony server through an IP address or doamin?. This will all be decided by the owner of the network. The network server will likely assign static IP addresses to devices connected to the LAN – therefore reducing the chance of hiccups. This will all be decided by the MAC address.

Network Server

Before starting Network Server for the first time, you would want to insert the microSD/SD card into the appropriate reader. This will have the configuration server. To keep things simple, and easy to identify the consequences of actions, all devices in the DMZ will be required to be on LAN 4. Obviously, since this is just one LAN port, there will be a need for a switch for anything more. My only thought of what should be DMZ is LAMP, or Telephony Servers. However, the choice will be up to the owner.

Once the network server is installed, your devices will see a Network icon. This will plug into this server, and you would see status of the LAN ports, and connection to the WANs. Selecting one of the LAN ports will allow you to configure that as a secondary network if that is something that needs to be done. You would want to limit IOT devices to the internet as much as possible to prevent hackers from gaining access to cameras, and speakers.

Once you go into the Network icon, you would see all devices that is currently on the network. This will allow you to know which are guests, and which are not. Non-Sentirus devices will not have an image of the device since Senitrus can’t identify the exact device. You would be able to set limits on the guest network, or optimize connections based on needs.

If you want to access services within the LAN from outside of the network, you would want to setup VPN which will allow you to connect to the LAN through the internet, and therefore allow you to have access to all of the resources in the LAN. Therefore, if you need to reference a file on storage server, you can do that through VPN, and going into network. Any time the Network has a red dot, it is not connected to the network.
